SuperYacht Tender

Having the best SuperYacht can be a tad frustrating if you are unable to get ashore.

The Hov Pod Hovercraft tender has no propeller to get snagged on coral, or damage sea turtles, manatees etc. You can fly over any flat surface be that shallow water, mud, sand, grass, tarmac, concrete, ice, snow etc. The unique design makes it easy and fun to fly, so a great addition to the toy box to help you entertain guests.

The Hov Pod Hovercraft is unique, manufactured with simplicity of operation and maintenance in mind. The Hov Pod is the only hovercraft manufactured from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) – this material makes it extremely strong yet lightweight and exceptionally buoyant. The Hov Pod is designed for salt water use, with marine grade stainless steel parts as standard.

The Hov Pod Hovercraft is very popular with SuperYacht owners who seek something a little different for guests to enjoy. Whereas boats, RIB’s and PWC tend to crash through waves, the Hov Pod has a natural built in air-cushion suspension fitted as standard; this provides the ability to glide over the surface of the water to provide a far more comfortable ride; typical hover height around 8 to 9 inches (0.25 meter) above the surface.

The ride sensation is rather like levitation, allowing the driver to flit from surface to surface, from land to water to land, to perform 180 turns, or 360 spins – you are literally floating on air. Hear the gasp from passengers when you do not stop as the water’s edge as you fly up and over the beach, and then back out the sea. Easy to drive, no specialist pilot required.

Hovercraft as a SuperYacht tender

Apart from guest entertainment, there are many reasons to consider hovercraft for SuperYachts.

As a SuperYacht tender, a hovercraft can reach shore, even when the tide is out, as they can travel over any flat surface be that sand, mud, tarmac, concrete slipway, ice and snow.

Hovercraft have no propellers to get snagged on under water obstructions such as rocks or coral, and will not damage manatees or sea turtles.

Hovercraft are far more comfortable than RIBs and PWC - you float on an air bubble at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, air suspension fitted as standard.

Here are a few things to consider before you buy a hovercraft.

Never ask how many seats, check on-water start payload, since all hovercraft need to overcome the pressure wave they create known in hovercraft circles as Hump.

Check whether the engine has been modified since modification will invalidate engine suppliers warranty - cheaper hovercraft are fitted with modified lawn mower engines and do not carry warranty.

Some hovercraft are very thin bodied, the Hov Pod is manufactured from HDPE and Carbon Fibre so far stronger than glass fibre.

Check safety features, such as whether a rear guard is fitted to the fan assembly - some suppliers leave this off to improve air flow so they can fit cheaper under powered engines.
